Co-Founder, Normanby Capital, Edge Early Learning, Dental Corp Australia & Canada, Removery

Chris is a Partner and member of the Investment Committee at HEAL Partners.

Chris is a founding partner and Managing Director at Normanby Capital and has extensive experience in corporate finance, strategy consulting, start up operations and major corporate expansion.

Normanby was first set up in early 2007 to focus on co-management advisory but other projects were soon overtaken by establishing, financing and operating what became Australia and New Zealand’s largest dental services provider, Dental Corporation, alongside Normanby partner, Mark Evans. Today, the Dental Corporation businesses have over 600 dental practices in Australia and New Zealand and Canada employing over 5,000 people with combined annual revenue of over $1.2 billion.

At Dental Corporation, Chris initially managed all aspects of acquisitions from due diligence through contract negotiations and settlements. Chris managed approximately 200 practice acquisitions during this period, ultimately recruiting in additional resources to assist with this part of the business. Alongside this and in conjunction with Mark, Chris managed the equity and debt needs of the business as well as setting the strategic direction for Dental Corporation.

Chris is a founder and director of Edge Early Learning, which currently owns and operates over 50 high quality childcare centres in Queensland and South Australia. Edge is well positioned to continue to grow strongly from this base into the leading provider in its market through a combination of acquisitions and greenfield developments.

Chris is also a founder and director of Removery, which is building the world’s first large scale tattoo removal business. This growing market had no leader and lacked any level of corporate sophistication to drive rapid growth and awareness amongst consumers until the emergence of Removery, and is well positioned to drive industry growth and its own shareholder value.

Before Dental Corporation, Chris had six years’ experience in the investment banking/corporate advisory area. During this time he undertook a wide range of mergers and acquisitions projects (including reverse takeovers, public company takeovers and business sales), equity and debt raisings (from seed, through private equity and bank debt to IPO’s and placements) and general advisory (such as acquisition strategy development, investor communications and business planning).
