Mark is a Partner and member of the Investment Committee at HEAL Partners.
Mark is the founder and Executive Chairman of Normanby Capital with over 30 years’ experience in investment banking and company management in executive and non-executive roles.
In 2003 Mark founded and was Managing Director of Kids Campus where he oversaw the growth of the company from 4 to 120 childcare centres in 3 states. After completing a backdoor listing on the ASX in 2004, Kids Campus was acquired by ABC Learning for an enterprise value of over $180m in 2006.
In 2007 Normanby founded and Mark was the major seed shareholder in Dental Corporation holding the position of Executive Chairman. Mark oversaw the expansion of Dental Corporation into the Canadian market in 2011. Mark was the driving force behind Dental Corporation from a start-up concept to one of the largest dental service providers in the world in less than 10 years.
Today, the Dental Corporation business have over 600 practices employing over 5,000 people with annual revenue over $1.2 billion.
In 2013 Mark managed the takeover of Dental Corporation by Bupa for an enterprise value of approximately $600m and continued with the business as Managing Director focused on continuing DC’s growth under a 3 year contract. Mark remained on the board of Dental Corporation Canada until 2018 when it was taken over by a major US based private equity fund for $1.6 billion.
In 2010 Dental Corporation won the ANZ/ BRW award for Australia’s Fastest Growing Company with turnover greater than $100m and was runner up in 2011. In 2011 Mark was a national finalist in the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In 2015 Dental Corporation Canada won the Deloitte “Best Managed Company” award.
In 2015 Mark went back into the childcare market starting the entity that has now become Edge Early Learning, which currently owns and has contracted to buy or operate over 50 high quality childcare centres in Queensland and South Australia.
In 2018 Mark founded and is a director of Removery, which is the world’s first large scale tattoo removal business. This growing market had no leader and lacked any level of corporate sophistication to drive rapid growth and awareness amongst consumers until the emergence of Removery.
Most recently, Mark partnered with Dr. Andrew Meikle and Peter Chapman to create The Fertility Partners.
Mark has been a director of the Western Bulldogs Football Club since 2015.
